Shipping

We are currently only shipping within Australia. We are sending all our parcels via Australia Post Express as this is currently the fastest way to ship and track packages. Parcels are normally shipped the same day if the order is placed before 2pm on Monday-Friday, weekend orders are shipped on Mondays or the first business day after a public holiday.

Currently we have a $14 flat rate charge on all Express Post parcels.

There is also the Click and Collect option available and we will email to let you know when your order is ready and to organise a day and time for collection.

If you are outside of Australia and wish to place an order please email us at shop@cottageindustrystore.com.au to discuss whether the item can be shipped and to arrange a postage quote BEFORE placing an order. Not all our stock is suitable for shipping and please be aware there are no returns on overseas orders.

Returns

Following the Australian Consumer Law we do not offer returns for items unless they are faulty. Please note that does not apply to if you have changed your mind, decided you didn’t like it or have no use for the item after purchase, or found it cheaper somewhere else.

Your rights can be found here.

Should you need to return any goods please first contact us via email or phone within 7 days of receipt of the order so that we can facilitate the return. Please return the item via Express Post and inform us of the tracking details. If the goods are faulty, postage will be refunded, the goods will either be replaced or a refund issued.

We do understand that sometimes items need to be exchanged. Anything to be returned for exchange or a credit note refund must be unused, unworn, still in its original packaging, all tags must still be attached, items must not have been washed, dry cleaned or show signs of wear or use.

Sale items can not be returned or refunded and the purchase is final.

Clothing

We understand that buying clothing over the internet can sometime be difficult. It isn’t something that I particularly like doing unless I know exactly what I am purchasing. If you ever need additional information please call the shop and we will attempt to talk through style, fabrics, fit, etc.

It has been our preference not to photograph our garments on models. Why? Well we would like to be as inclusive as possible and part of that is preferring to show the garment without a body in it, we feel that it is then easier to leave preconceived ideas about how one ‘should’ look behind. Occasionally you will notice that we do used model shots, but we will always try to include the model’s size etc so that you will have some idea of the ease and sizing on the body. It is a sad fact that most of us feel a great deal of disappointment looking in the mirror. I hope that as often as possible we will design, make and stock garments that will free us from those expectations and will instead clothe us in comfortable and wearable items that reinforce who we are as individuals.

All our clothing descriptions include measurements, these are the garment measurements not the body measurements. It is simple to use a dressmaker’s tape measure (or a piece of string and a flat ruler) to measure your body and compare these with the garment measurement, this difference is known as ‘ease’. You may also choose to circle the tape measure to the measurements given and hold this around the body (at bust, waist, bicep, etc), you will then be able to see how much room there will be in the garment when on.

The Montaigne range comes in one size per style. Each style has a different fit and cut, so some styles are suitable from AU size 8-14 while other garments fit a wider size range. We prefer to supply you with the garment measurements because we know the usual description of sizes is very arbitary and that the Montaigne garments can fit many people depending on their body shape, etc. If in doubt please call us!

Our in-house ‘Penelope Durston’ and ‘Cottage Industry’ pieces are all made in our studio in Fitzroy.
