Bunai is a Japanese/Indian clothing company producing garments in handwoven fabrics with hand detailing. We stocked this range just prior to the covid lockdowns in 2020 and I stored these safely away as they were such beautiful garments. I’ve pulled them out now as they are perfect hot weather garments and beautiful to wear.

This long shirt/dress is based on the traditional Indian ‘kameez’ It is made from handwoven cotton muslin with ‘jamdani’ motifs that are inlaid by hand as the fabric is woven. The fabric is a natural cream with indigo blue motifs and the selvedge stripes have been used to finish the hem and cuff. The buttoned bodice yoke is detailed with pin tucks and the back neck is gathered. Style line seams are all hemstitched and flat felled, the seams are French seamed, and the neck bind has been hand stitched. The muslin is very fine and slightly see-through and this dress would be perfect for layering with a camisole or under other garments.

Made from handwoven cotton with mother of pearl buttons.

Wash on a delicate cycle in cold water, preferably in a garment bag. Shake and dry on a hanger, warm iron if needed. Do not bleach or tumble dry.
