Penelope Durston: Angora/Lambswool Fingerless Gloves (Medium Length Cuff)
Penelope Durston: Angora/Lambswool Fingerless Gloves (Medium Length Cuff)
We have been known for our fingerless gloves for the last 20 years and in 2016 we moved production into our Fitzroy studio. The gloves are knitted on a state of the art computerised Shima Seiki ‘whole garment’ knitting machine.
These medium length cuff fingerless gloves are made from angora (40%) and lambswool (60%) yarn we have specially spun for us in New Zealand. The yarn is spun in the natural cream colour of the fibre and once knitted we hand dye these pieces in small batches. The huge range of colours we produce over autumn and winter is something we are known for.
It is important to us that we produce a product that will hold its shape and have a long life, which is why we use a Japanese lycra yarn to give the gloves stretch and return, and they fit a wide range of hand sizes. The cuff is stabilised with an elastic yarn . We do not wash the gloves to their full fluff and this will develop with wear and washing. And yes our gloves can be machine washed and tumble dried!
Please be aware that as with most pieces with a fluffy pile this will gradually wear away or pill with use. This is a natural characteristic of both lambswool and angora fibres. Don’t view this as a fault but as a metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life….
Adult fingerless gloves will fit a wide range of hand sizes, they will feel firm to start with but will rely with wear. Cuff length 15cm
Please remember colours may not appear accurate! We try our best but the fluff of our yarns can make it difficult to colour match and there may be different settings between devices.
