Penelope Durston Fingerless Gloves: Possum/Merino Medium Length Cuff

A$70.00

We have been known for our fingerless gloves for the last 20 years and in 2016 we moved production into our Fitzroy studio. The gloves are knitted on a state of the art computerised Shima Seiki ‘whole garment’ knitting machine.

These medium length cuff fingerless gloves are made from a mix of brush tail possum* fibre, merino and silk yarn from New Zealand. Knitted with a Japanese lycra yarn these gloves have a great stretch and will fit a wide range of hands and are our go-to gloves for larger hands.

It is important to us that we produce a product that will hold its shape and have a long life, which is why we use a Japanese lycra yarn to give the gloves stretch and return, and they fit a wide range of hand sizes. The cuff is stabilised with an elastic yarn .

Please be aware that as with most pieces with a fluffy pile this will gradually wear away or pill with use. Possum/merino yarn is very stable and less likely to pill but as with any fabric that has a fluffy pile it is still possible. Simply pick or comb the fluff as needed. And regularly give the gloves a cold water machine was on a gentle or wool cycle.

Adult fingerless gloves will fit a wide range of hand sizes, they will feel firm to start with but will rely with wear. Cuff length 15cm

Please remember colours may not appear accurate! We try our best but the fluff of our yarns can make it difficult to colour match and there may be different settings between devices.

Materials:( 65% merino, 25% brush tail possum, 10% silk) lycra yarn (Japan) elastic yarn (Japan)

* Introduced into New Zealand during the 19th century, the Brushtail Possum is a notified pest. It thrived in the country’s forests and the population exploded. Every year, the Brushtail Possum cause immense harm to the country’s natural flora and fauna. Control programmes manage the Brushtail Possum population to protect native trees, plants and birdlife. The fibre we source for Perino yarns is a by-product of those eradication programmes. It is collected from a small number of carefully selected regions and only at certain times of the year. We blend it with only the finest microns of merino or cashmere to guarantee softness and consistency.
