Chemise Dress: Mustard Cotton Seersucker Pincord
Chemise Dress: Mustard Cotton Seersucker Pincord
This chemise style is a garment we have been doing even longer than our Harvest Smock! Our original versions were based on an antique shift in cream linen with our own hand embroidery on the front. Over the years it has been modified with side gathers and, finally, with pockets in the side seam. It is a traditional style made from simple squares, rectangles and triangles, a ‘flat’ garment that moulds to the body.. It has become a favourite amongst our customers who prefer its more A-line shape. As usual the fit is on the looser side (but not like the Harvest Smock) and I wear the XL with comfort. The small is still a generous size. The sleeves fall just below the elbow, depending on how tall you are of course!
The fabric we have used is a cotton pincord but, amazingly, it is a seersucker pincord! While soft, once washed, it has a lovely texture, lightweight but heavenly. Warning! The colour is intense and is an intense saturated ochre-mustard with pale yellow, bone and black stripes done in a ‘discharge’ print on the mustard ground. For a textile nerd this fabric is amazing and very unusual.
Size Small on our trade size 10 mannequin, loose fit.
