Born out of a desire to offer an ethically sourced natural product that never compromises on luxury, these candles are handmade in Lutruwita (Tasmania) using ethically sourced local beeswax from the Tasmanian Honey Company blended with 100% organic soy wax with no parabens, paraffin phthalates or palm oil.
Wicks are organic plaited flax and every candle is packaged in 19th century newspaper sourced from Australia and New Zealand, grosgrain ribbon and a wax seal.
Seasonal range:
#25 Saturnalia (Cedar and Cypress) Walking through an arboretum of pine, cypress and cedar woods on a summer’s afternoon brings forth resin from the bark as well as gently warmed aromatics from the needles and fronds. The gentle evocation of seasonal traditions of collecting pine cones brings joy and nostalgia through scent and memory.
#22 Balthazar (Oud and Thyme) A seductive and fresh cologne of summer romance giving herbaceous wood offers handsome depth and bright air. This briny and seductive aroma brings comfort and delight whilst heralding the wisdom of decadent ceremonial spice.
#12 Ambrosia (Spiced Nectar) The mythical imbibements of the goddesses and gods of Ancient Greece manifests here as a seductive perfume of cinnamon, clove and honey. A decadent and bright aroma of savoury spice and the pollen of bees combines with a light waft of meadow-rich royal jelly.
Questions and Answers about the candles by World’s End Obscura:
How long will a World's End Obscura candle burn for?
Our candles are longer lasting because of the way beeswax burns and under ideal conditions our 400g candles burn for 80 hours.
Candle care is key to burn time, please trim your wicks to around 8mm, place on a fireproof surface in eye shot and out of drafts. To get the most out of your candles burn them in 2 hour intervals. Shorter burn times can result in the surface not burning evenly creating a tunneling effect that will drown the wick and waste a significant portion of your candle. Burning for 4 or more hours can result in the entire candle becoming molten which can shift the centred wick out of alignment of even cause the glass to overheat. See the pamphlet attached to your candle for full instructions info and tips.
Do I need to trim my candle wicks?
Yes. As the wax level drops, the wicks effectively become longer so we advise that you trim the wicks to 8mm and ensure they're upright prior to each new burn.
Why are some fragrances stronger than others?
Fragrance perception is as unique as we are in personality. Factors include the type of fragrance, your personal receptiveness to it, the construction of a perfume and even your mood and time of day! Your circadian rhythms and the environment in which a candle is lit play a significant part in how we perceive aromas. For perfumers or ‘noses’ as they are called, all fragrance perception work is done in the morning.
Why is there black smoke in the glass/coming from my candle?
Wick trimming is the best preventative method for carbon haze, or the black smoke that has this effect. Trimming your wicks is the only way to prevent smoking. If your glass is smokey, use a dry piece of paper towel to wipe it clean or use a Chux Magic Eraser.
