World's End Obscura: Candle in Recycled Glass Vessel 400gm
As you know we usually make our own scented candles, but when we received a special parcel in the mail of World’s End Obscura candles we knew we had to stock them. Perfect as a present for a loved one or as a present for yourself.
Born out of a desire to offer an ethically sourced natural product that never compromises on luxury, these candles are handmade in lutruwita (Tasmania) using ethically sourced local beeswax from the Tasmanian Honey Company blended with 100% organic soy wax with no parabens, paraffin phthalates or palm oil.
Each vessel is handblown in Italy from recycled wine bottles and is perfect to reuse as a drinking vessel, vase or another candle. We are providing them with a watch glass dish that can be used as a cover when the candle is not in use to reduce evaporation of the scent and protect it from dust.
Wicks are organic plaited flax and every candle is packaged in 19th century newspaper sourced from Australia and New Zealand, grosgrain ribbon and a wax seal.
#86 Dianthus Noctis (Black Carnation) Seductive and crisp notes of clove and black pepper dance elegantly atop a high floral freshness. This flower’s pure fragrance naturally embodies the traits of complex oriental compositions with its subtle and uplifting petals laced with exotic spice.A truly sophisticated bouquet with a delightfully masculine edge.
#11 Pimpinellifolium (Wild Tomato Leaf) Stunning wild tomatoes envelop you with the scent of their leaves taking warmth from the sun’s rays– it’s a summer day so divine you could consume it– or else… let it consume you. A scented candle that smells good enough to eat will have you basking in the unusual and savoury aroma of fresh tomato leaves- at once fresh and bright yet grounded and welcoming.
#27 Lutruwita (Tasmania) Experience an aroma of pristine cool climate rainforest with scents at once familiar and yet distinctly unique. Waterfalls offer percussion to the travelling wistful birdsong of Superb Fairywrens, Silvereyes and Olive Whistlers– but it’s the smells that catch you in your tracks. The distinctive endemic species of Tasmania’s myrtle beech, sassafras and leatherwood beneath a canopy of towering King Billy, celery top & Huon Pines are captured in this candle. A bright perfume of aniseed & sweet honey floats delicately above more robust tones of cedar and pine whilst moss & myrrh carry long notes to your nose.
#43 Ficus Carica (Fig Leaf) An autumn fig leaf is crushed in the hand and inhaled deeply while standing in a warm beam of golden sunlight. The gentle aroma of bees buzzing in a nearby tree of blossoms wafts honey nectar perfume over on a delicate breeze.
#5 Santalum (sandal Tree) Santal in the Summertime… Warm tones of sandalwood and cardamom bask in a bright winter light that's strong and beaming down on your decolletage. In the dappled shade you'll find cooling and uplifting notes of violets underfoot and a light aroma of hyacinths. It's a seductive combination that brings waves of heat peppered with sweet relief, spellbinding you into an endless chase of satisfaction and pleasure.
#17 Clementina Floreo (Clementine Blossom) Spring Citrus Blossom… In a field of clementine citrus trees the buzzing bees disturb the nectar in fragrant blossoms. Sunbeams warm the petals and a gentle zephyr carries their aroma to you. The floral and citrusy notes combine with the bewitching scent of natural beeswax from Tasmanian wildflowers.
Questions and Answers about the candles by World’s End Obscura:
How long will a World's End Obscura candle burn for?
Our candles are longer lasting because of the way beeswax burns and under ideal conditions our 400g candles burn for 80 hours.
Candle care is key to burn time, please trim your wicks to around 8mm, place on a fireproof surface in eye shot and out of drafts. To get the most out of your candles burn them in 2 hour intervals. Shorter burn times can result in the surface not burning evenly creating a tunneling effect that will drown the wick and waste a significant portion of your candle. Burning for 4 or more hours can result in the entire candle becoming molten which can shift the centred wick out of alignment of even cause the glass to overheat. See the pamphlet attached to your candle for full instructions info and tips.
Do I need to trim my candle wicks?
Yes. As the wax level drops, the wicks effectively become longer so we advise that you trim the wicks to 8mm and ensure they're upright prior to each new burn.
Why are some fragrances stronger than others?
Fragrance perception is as unique as we are in personality. Factors include the type of fragrance, your personal receptiveness to it, the construction of a perfume and even your mood and time of day! Your circadian rhythms and the environment in which a candle is lit play a significant part in how we perceive aromas. For perfumers or ‘noses’ as they are called, all fragrance perception work is done in the morning.
Why is there black smoke in the glass/coming from my candle?
Wick trimming is the best preventative method for carbon haze, or the black smoke that has this effect. Trimming your wicks is the only way to prevent smoking. If your glass is smokey, use a dry piece of paper towel to wipe it clean or use a Chux Magic Eraser.
