The founder and perfumer of the brand, Chikako, works in both Tokyo, Japan and Grasse, France. Her incense designs draw on the traditions of both of these places, melding incense with a perfumer’s training.

Chikako: I am a perfumery artist specialized in incense fragrances with a particular focus on natural materials. I graduated from Tama Art University in Japan and Grasse Institute of Perfumery located in Grasse, Southern France, which is renowned as the town of perfume industry. It is my desire to cherish and embrace the energy of Nature.

When you use TOKYO KODO's incense, you can image Nature and Earth from which the scents are sourced. And, you may be able to feel how our lives are in fact connected to Nature.

LOVE CARROT is the first and most favorite fragrance Chikako have ever created. During her training at perfume school in Grasse, south of France, she was fascinated by the smell of carrot seed oil which is earthy, ethereal sweet floral, leafy green note. Combined with sunny orange, patchouli, sweet vanilla and Indian creamy sandalwood to create a complex sophisticated scent.
