We spent a long time looking for the right type of incense for the shop, I had a list of things I didn’t want from incense…. I wanted incense that was not too overwhelming or cloying or too ‘incense-y” (I know! I know!), that was interesting and simple to use, unfussy and the type you wouldn’t get bored of.

HIBI ticked everything off the checklist.

Made in Hyogo prefecture in Japan HIBI called upon the region’s history of incense and match production to create an incense stick that can be lit as a match. The strike plate is on the side of the box and the pack comes with a glass fibre burning disc. Compact and simple, it took three years to develop, mixing charcoal, paper fibre and wax, and a range of ‘modern’, ‘deep’ and ‘traditional’ scents.

Burning time 10 minutes. Each box contains 8 matches.
