If you know how we work here at Cottage Industry it is very much based in stocking things that we love. Azumi Sakata’s work definitely fits this criteria. I bought my first @zoomy piece for myself and decided we had to stock her work.

Azumi uses traditional embroidery techniques of silk stump and gold and silver bullion work on leather and silk, with real pearls and gold beads. When you aren’t wearing the brooch it can be displayed in the handmade box, mounted on entomology pins.

Azumi lives and works in Tokyo and exhibits her larger pieces in galleries around the world.

Who doesn’t want a giant moth brooch to cover a hole in a favourite sweater or jacket? Perhaps by wearing one it might work as ‘sympathetic magic’ and keep the buggers away!
